The brief

Youth volunteering has enormous potential. The route in had to catch up.

Enjoy Development took the platform from blank page to live in the iOS and Android stores, and operates it today.

Millions of UK young people want to contribute to causes they care about, but finding the right opportunities has been fragmented and frustrating. Impactful is a mobile-first platform for 13 to 30 year olds: discover organisations, post your own ideas, log what you do and earn impact recognition that travels with you.

The mobile experience

Designed for how 13 to 30s actually use their phones.

Three of the core screens. Built native on iOS and Android from one Flutter codebase.

  • Impactful explore screen showing a Shoreline Sweep Challenge activity by TideShift UK on the Activities tab.

    Explore

Map-based search for nearby activities and causes.

  • Impactful Idea Spark screen with an AI-generated Park Clean Up Event idea, tagged Environment and Charities and Voluntary Bodies.

    Idea Spark

AI suggests volunteer actions based on interests and time.

  • Impactful organisation profile screen for Impactful with a sunset beach photo and Info, Resources and Fundraising menus.

    Organisation

Follow organisations, browse resources, support causes.

What it does

Five things the platform actually does for its users.

  • 01

    Native mobile apps.

Beautiful, fast iOS and Android apps from a single Flutter codebase. Native feel on both platforms.

  • 02

    Real-time search.

Instant search across organisations and activities, with filters for location, cause and time.

  • 03

    AI-generated actions.

Personalised volunteer ideas built on a compliant, custom-prompted model. Safe by design for young users.

  • 04

    Organisation portal.

A dashboard for charities to manage their profile, post activities and opportunities, share resources and track engagement.

  • 05

    Impact tracking.

Reporting for organisations: hours contributed, activities completed and engagement with shared content.

The transformation

From scattered spreadsheets to one mobile-first platform.

Before · the old way

Friction at every step

  • Scattered listings across multiple websites
  • Manual application tracking by email
  • No mobile-first experience
  • Limited visibility into volunteer engagement
  • No personalisation or recommendations
  • Paper-based compliance processes
After · with Impactful

One platform. Mobile first.

  • One mobile-first platform for 13 to 30s
  • Real-time discovery across organisations and activities
  • AI-assisted personalised volunteer actions
  • Organisation portal with engagement analytics
  • GDPR and Children's Code compliant from day one
  • DBS-verified organisations and safeguarding flows
Organisation portal

More than a listing. A control room for charities.

Charities need to manage their presence, post activities, track engagement and stay safeguarding-compliant in one place. The portal does all four.

  • Create and manage volunteer activities
  • Track engagement and contributed hours
  • Share existing opportunities and resources
  • Connect fundraising and social links
  • Publish and manage your public profile
